Jennie Lee Building MK OU

The building's corridor lighting originally featured 2004-installed linear aluminium profiles equipped with 28W T5 fluorescent tubes and opal diffusers, all managed via an Ex-Or control system. While the aluminium housing and internal wiring remained in excellent condition, the client faced escalating maintenance demands and rising lamp-replacement costs. To address these inefficiencies, they required a sustainable, energy-efficient upgrade designed for long-term, future-proof maintenance

Linear LED Upgrade

The REGEN team proposed the RESUS LED Module that mechanically fits into the existing lamp holders, powered by an independent LED Driver which locates into the same position as the original ballast.  The light distribution is virtually identical to the original fluorescent.

The RESUS LED Module by the REGEN Initiative is a circular, retrofit lighting solution designed to upgrade existing linear fluorescent fixtures (like T5 and T8 fittings) to energy-efficient LEDs without discarding the original housing.

The module clips directly into existing fluorescent lamp holders, using them strictly for physical support rather than electrical connection.

The LED Module is completely Controls Agnostic and works seamlessly with fixed output, DALI, or wireless dimming controls, as well as standard emergency lighting setups. In this instance, the client wanted to change the existing, hard wired Ex-Or  control system to Bluetooth Casambi.

Kent Electrical Ltd professionally upgraded the lighting system across multiple floors by removing and recycling all existing fluorescent lamps, old wiring, and ballasts. The team retrofitted the original fixtures with high-efficiency RESUS LED Modules paired with Tridonic Basic Dim Wireless LED Drivers for Bluetooth connectivity. The final result is a clean, modern aesthetic delivering homogenous 4000K illumination throughout the building.

    Key Benefits

    • Environmental Impact: Retaining the original aluminium fixtures prevented unnecessary waste and preserved their embodied carbon.
    • Energy Efficiency: The upgrade delivers approximately 50% energy savings.
    • Lower Expenses: The new system guarantees a significant reduction in long-term maintenance costs.
