Build Back Better Awards 2026
The Regen Initiative is honored to be recognized at the Build Back Better Awards 2026 for pioneering circular lighting remanufacturing. We breathe new life into old lighting, cutting carbon emissions, reducing landfill waste, and transforming commercial spaces across the UK with sustainable LED retrofits.
Winners at the Build Back Better Awards 2026
The Regen Initiative received top honors in the lighting category at the Build Back Better Awards 2026 for our landmark refurbishment project at Arup's Fitzroy Street offices in London. This initiative exemplifies how engineered remanufacturing achieves profound carbon savings while retaining valuable existing architecture.
By remanufacturing approximately 2,000 architectural luminaires, we delivered a 53 percent reduction in energy consumption and achieved 69 percent carbon avoidance, preventing 92 percent of original materials from entering the waste stream.
Build Back Better Green Award 2026
We were awarded the prestigious Build Back Better Green Award 2026 in recognition of our commitment to circular economy practices and carbon reduction. Rather than replacing entire lighting luminaires with new products, our team engineers bespoke LED upgrade modules to retain the existing architectural housings.
This recognition highlights our mission to help clients overcome rising energy tariffs and regulatory phase-outs with genuine, verified environmental savings.
Build Back Better Gold Award 2026
The Build Back Better Gold Award celebrates exceptional technical innovation and environmental leadership in the built environment. Receiving this accolade for the Arup London installation confirms that our technical design, on-site testing, and component upgrades offer uncompromising performance alongside extraordinary sustainability metrics.
The awards ceremony
The 2026 Build Back Better Awards were presented at Circular Lighting Live at the Minster Building in London. Industry leaders, lighting designers, and sustainability specialists gathered as the awards panel commended The Regen Initiative for redefining the circular potential of commercial lighting assets.
Celebrating circular lighting innovation
The Build Back Better Awards celebrate transformative solutions reshaping sustainability across the built environment. While replacing old fixtures with brand new luminaires is often perceived as the default path, remanufacture preserves embodied carbon and eliminates unnecessary industrial waste.
By keeping original luminaire housings in service and upgrading only the critical electronic and optical components, we help organizations meet their net-zero targets while conserving heritage and modern architectural aesthetics alike.
