Case Study - Alexandra Palace Concourse Globe Lighting upgrade
Another classic heritage site with amazing external architectural globe lights. In 2023, Alexandra Palace was 150 years old. As part of the ongoing maintenance and refurbishment work, the Regen Initiative were invited to Remanufacture some of the heritage concourse light fittings that create the perimeter lighting of this historic listed building

Upgraded to LED
Affectionately known as 'Ally Pally' the brief was to preserving the character of a Grade II listed landmark while adapting to modern environmental standards.
The Remanufacturing Approach: Instead of replacing the historic perimeter globe lights with brand-new reproductions, they utilised the original luminaire bodies (the structural "aluminium core") replaced the Opal globe shades and fitted a new ultra warm LED light module.

New LED Gear Tray
The original SON lamps were failing frequently and becoming difficult to source. The brief required a solution that matched their output to deliver consistent, homogeneous lighting at the correct 1800°Kelvin colour temperature. In response, the new LED Gear Tray was developed, featuring four bespoke, ultra-warm LED boards manufactured specifically for this project. This four-sided module provides 360° of uniform illumination that exceeds all performance expectations while significantly reducing energy consumption.

Opal Polycarbonate Globe
A combination of severe UV degradation, permanent discolouration, and physical damage rendered the original opal shades unsalvageable. The chosen solution required the fabrication of identical, new units. For this, we proudly partnered with Talbot Designs, a UK-based specialist with extensive expertise in bespoke polycarbonate manufacturing

Installation
Each column required minimal adjustment to locate the new LED
conversion kit. Each kit was self-contained, with the LED array,
driver and central totem forming an assembly that could be tested
and verified for regulatory compliance at the factory before heading
off to site for installation. The dedicated Alexandra in-house engineering team performed the conversion on site.
