A delightful Great Portland Estate office in the centre of London replacing fluorescent lamps for the REGEN's RESUS Light Modules.

Faced with aging and inefficient lighting infrastructure, the office manager sought a progressive alternative to traditional commercial fit-outs. Rather than opting for standard replace and recycling—which still incurs significant carbon and material waste—she envisioned a profoundly sustainable renovation. Her objective was clear: remanufacture the existing light fixtures, retain the structural integrity of the original components, and minimise the volume of raw materials sent down the traditional recycling pipeline.

To turn this vision into reality, the management team partnered with The Regen Initiative. As specialists in circular lighting solutions, The Regen Initiative was commissioned to conduct a comprehensive on-site survey and structural audit. Their technical team evaluated the condition, spacing, and architecture of the legacy luminaires to design custom remanufacturing options.

By upgrading the internal electronics to high-efficiency LED technology while preserving the original outer chassis, the project successfully delivered a state-of-the-art workplace environment. This collaborative effort not only drastically slashed operational energy consumption but also set a new benchmark for embodied carbon reduction within the Great Portland Estates estate.

Multiple small offices were successfully upgraded to high-efficiency LED lighting using the RESUS LED Module system. This comprehensive modernisation replaced outdated, energy-intensive linear fluorescent fixtures with advanced solid-state technology. The upgrade dramatically improves workplace illumination while significantly reducing energy consumption and ongoing maintenance costs.

Technical Implementation

  • Seamless Integration: The specialised RESUS LED Modules fit directly into the offices' existing lamp holders. This approach minimised structural disruption and allowed the project to maximise the use of existing infrastructure.

  • Ballast Replacement: Each installation involved removing the old fluorescent ballasts and installing separate, dedicated LED drivers. This optimises power delivery, eliminates the humming and flickering associated with legacy gear, and ensures long-term operational stability.

  • Bespoke Illumination: To maintain a welcoming yet highly productive workspace, the linear fluorescent lights were upgraded with bespoke 3000K warm-white RESUS LED Modules. This specific colour temperature provides excellent colour rendering and optimal visual comfort for office personnel.

Meeting Rooms

We have upgraded the decorative meeting room wall lights with a custom, surface-mounted RESUS Light module featuring a 3000K warm white LED board. This image captures the direct side-by-side comparison between the original fixture and our new custom conversion.

Engineered to significantly improve illumination uniformity, the retrofit design eliminated previous dark spots and uneven hot spots, distributing smooth, welcoming light across the wall surface. The updated modules not only elevate the visual appeal of the meeting space but also offer superior energy efficiency and a longer operational lifespan. The resulting transformation delivered impressive, high-performance results that left the client highly satisfied with both the aesthetic and functional upgrade.

Hallway & Corridor Lighting

The building’s decorative hallway and corridor lighting systems were upgraded by replacing the legacy PL-L lamps with bespoke RESUS LED modules. To ensure a seamless installation, engineering teams utilised custom 3D-printed support brackets engineered specifically for this architectural footprint. This tailored mounting solution allowed the new modules to fit perfectly into the existing fixtures without requiring structural modifications. The resulting upgrade delivers exceptionally clean, homogeneous LED illumination across all transit areas, eliminating previous dark spots and significantly improving both energy efficiency and visual comfort.
